Sports Tournaments Achievements 2017-18

A great achievement from this years sports tournaments from the children. Well Done!

 

May 2018

Quadkids Athletics

On Thursday 11th May, the athletics team took part in the Quadkids Athletics competition at Perivale Track. All members of the team were very dynamic, full of enthusiasm and ready to take part in all the contests. Two boys from Year 5, Mason and David, finished in the top ten athletes of the competition. Well done!

 

Yr 3 & Yr 4 Football

On Friday 4th May, Year 3 and 4 boys competed in a football tournament for their age group. Unfortunately, on this occasion the team didn’t qualify to get past the group phase. They won 3 games, drew 2 and lost 2 despite trying their best. It was a great opportunity for them to observe other teams that played in further rounds of the tournament and learn how they could improve their skills for their next match.

April 2018

Yr 5 & Yr 6 Football

On Friday 27th April, Year 5 and 6 boys competed in the London Inter-Primary School Football Tournament at Goals in Ruislip. The team made it to the last eight out of twenty-four schools that took part and were defeated in their final game by a last minute goal. The boys played very well and once again showed an amazing level of sportsmanship. ​ Pupils also used this opportunity to interact with children from other schools and make new friends too.

 

January 2018

Boys Football

On Thursday 25th January the boys’ football teams competed in the Established and Emerging Teams’ competition at Alec Reed Academy. The boys played very well against tough opposition and finished in overall 2nd and 3rd places.

 

Athletics

On Thursday 18th January, the athletics team participated in the indoor Sports hall athletics competition at Greenford High School. The children performed exceptionally well  having ‘best performances’ of the competition in five track events. All our pupils demonstrated a high standard of sportsmanship and teamwork and finished in overall 2nd place.

December 2017

Boys Football

Gifford’s boys’ football team competed in the final round of the School Games advanced football league on Thursday 7th December. In extreme weather conditions, the boys battled not only their opponents but the relentless rain, wind and cold. They started the round in 3rd place and managed to hold on to their position finishing the league in 3rd place. The team played extremely well and the boys should be very proud of their performance.

November 2017

Quick Hockey

On Thursday 23rd November Gifford’s hockey teams competed at the School Games Quicksticks Hockey competition. Gifford entered two teams, one in the established and the other in the emerging league. The children played exceptionally well despite the limited preparation time the teams had together. Both teams finished 3rd in their groups narrowly missing out on progressing through to the finals. All our pupils demonstrated a high standard of sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the day and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

October 2017

Tag Rugby

Gifford’s tag rugby teams competed at The School Games Tag Rugby competition at Trailfinders.

Rugby Club on 19th October. Our emerging team, after a mixed day, did not go through to the finals as they finished 3rd in their group. Gifford’s advanced team managed to win their group stage recording only a single loss. They were defeated by the eventual competition winners in an epic quarter final that went to triple extra time!!They were awarded equal 3rd place medals for their amazing effort.

 

 

November 2017

Netball

The netball team competed at The School Games Hi-Five Netball competition on 2nd November at The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls. For many of the children this was their first experience competing in a netball tournament. The team had a mixed day with some very close matches throughout. All our players have gained some valuable experience and should be tremendously proud of their efforts.

Girls Football

The girls’ football team had their School Games competition on 9th November at Northolt High School. They played in some very close matches and were extremely unlucky to finish with 3 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. All the girls put in a fantastic effort.

 

Advanced Football League Week 1

On 16th November, Gifford’s advanced football team had a successful start in the first week of the advanced football league competition at Alec Reed Academy; they finished with 6 wins, 4 draws and no losses. Gifford is currently in third place with only 2 points separating the top 3 teams. The final week of competitions will be held on 7th December to decide who goes through to the Borough finals.
