All About us

At Gifford Primary school we recognise that the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending the children’s development. This begins by observing the children and assessing their interests, development and learning, before planning challenging but achievable activities and experiences to extend the children’s learning. We aim to create stimulating learning environments both indoors and outdoors which offer a wide range of activities that encourage the children’s interest and curiosity.

We hope your child will be happy at our school. The Early team will work with you to settle your child and make your child’s early years’ experience as enjoyable and successful as possible.

Gifford Nursery provides a welcoming, supportive, caring, happy and secure environment where children are given equal opportunities to develop and learn as individuals.

The aims of our teaching in the Early Year are to meet a child’s physical, social and academic needs and to provide the foundations for them to fulfill their potential

Aims and Objectives

  • All children will feel secure, comfortable and happy being in school and feel that they are listened to.
  • Children will be developed from what they know and have experienced e.g. home and pre-school settings.
  • Children will discover and learn about the world around them through play.
  • Each child will be wholly developed in a range of social and physical needs as well as academically.
  • Children will be encouraged to be independent and to organize themselves. This will give them the confidence to deal with the world around them and deal with new situations confidently. This in turn will allow them to take responsibility for themselves and support others.
  • Each child will be allowed to develop at their own pace and treated individually, always giving a sense of achievement and no sense of failure.
