Last Friday, Year 3 visited Shoebury Common Beach. The trip provided opportunities for pupils to embed and extend locational and place knowledge, as well as geographical skills, extending their knowledge and understanding beyond the local area to include Southend-on-Sea. The children were able to experience first-hand the beauty of coastal flora and fauna, whilst also experiencing tidal forecasts, which were also explored within the unit.
The Library ran a competition just before last half term for a new book cover for the book “How to train your dragon” Lots of children entered and the quality of the drawing was extremely high. Whilst there were 5 or 6 consolation prizes of a book, the overall winner was Faith in Year 5. Faith’s cover was outstanding and she was the worthy winner of the whole series of “How to train your dragon” a set of 12 books. Happy reading and huge congratulations!
Our brand new Lab will be used for Design and Technology, Science and other STEM lessons. As part of the celebration, one child from each class took part in a baking competition which was judged by local MP James Murray. The winning team made a sublime orange cake although the others were also very tasty. We are very proud of the amazing cakes that the teams were able to produce and hope they look forward to more baking opportunities in the future.
