Gifford Primary School was filled with creativity, imagination and a love of literature as we celebrated World Book Day 2026 with a special Shakespearean theme.

Pupils across the school explored the magic of storytelling through a range of exciting activities including themed lessons, drama workshops, reading sessions and creative costume designs inspired by famous literary characters. From kings and queens to poets and playwrights, our classrooms were transformed into vibrant spaces where books truly came to life.

Families also joined us for special reading opportunities, helping to strengthen our shared commitment to promoting a lifelong love of reading. Events like these reflect the strong reading culture at Gifford, where pupils’ creativity and enthusiasm for books are celebrated across all year groups.

World Book Day at Gifford was a wonderful reminder that stories connect us, inspire us and help us grow as confident readers and learners.

Our newly unveiled reading display showcases the fantastic work of pupils from every year group, celebrating their creativity, effort and love of reading. Unveiled alongside members of the Gifford Government, Miss Cadman and Ms Wilson, the display reflects the rich reading culture and learning journeys taking place across our school.

A wintry welcome back ❄️ The first snow of 2026 fell on our school grounds as pupils and staff returned to school on Tuesday 6th January, creating a calm and memorable start to the new term. Happy New Year to all our families.

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Winter Fair such a fantastic success. From the magical grotto and snow bubbles to the real reindeers and the wide variety of stalls, the atmosphere was truly festive from start to finish.

We are incredibly grateful to our stallholders, staff, pupils and parents for your time, energy and support — it was a wonderful community event enjoyed by all.

As part of an Earthwatch Discovery Day in the ‘Tiny Forest’, our pupils explored the oak tree with its acorns and observed the spangle galls on the leaves. They also gathered scientific data, measuring the young trees and recording which ones are still alive. In the future, we hope to hold a wildlife photography exhibition, showcasing the amazing photos pupils take of the forest and its wildlife!  

A big thank you to all parents who attended our OPAL Play parent workshop. Your enthusiasm and support help make our school a vibrant, creative, and engaging place for our children. We look forward to seeing these ideas brought to life in our playgrounds!

The first week has started fantastically, with classrooms purposeful and settled, and a warm, positive atmosphere throughout Gifford Primary School. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our staff and families for making the return smooth and welcoming for everyone.

The end of the academic year brought a truly historic moment as our football team triumphed with an incredible 7–0 win over Horsenden Primary to lift the coveted Ealing PEAL Shield – for the first time since 1965/66!

This prestigious trophy has been won by some very famous footballers in the past, including Bukayo Saka in 2013 – and now, our talented team has written their own chapter in history.

What an unforgettable achievement and a fantastic way to end the year – well done, Gifford! 🎉⚽

We couldn’t be prouder of our amazing school choir, who had the incredible opportunity to perform at the iconic Royal Albert Hall!

Our school dog Ralphie, has officially passed his assessment with our dog trainer, Jo Croft! Over the past few weeks, children have taken part in workshops where they’ve learned how to train, play with and care for dogs - including giving commands, feeding and building positive bonds through play. Ralphie has also begun visiting classes with his brother Teddy, as part of our wellbeing and enrichment programme.
